Ground Weta 1

Ground Weta 1

There are over 30 species of ground wētā endemic to New Zealand, in the genus Hemiandrus. They are agile jumpers and feed, mainly on insects at night, returning to spend the daytime in their tunnels in the soil. They enter their tunnels backwards probably to face any intruders.
