Greater Bilby 1

The bilby (Macrotis lagotis) is a threatened species, restricted to arid regions of Australia. Bilbies are nocturnal omnivores that do not need to drink water, as they get all the moisture they need from their food, foraging amongst the soil for insects, seeds, bulbs, fruit, fungi and very small animals.

They are about 29–55 centimetres in length, like a giant rat with a pink nose. Today they are struggling to survive in the wild due to feral cat predation and competition with rabbits.
