Rainbow Warrior memorial

Rainbow Warrior memorial

The Cavalli Islands are the resting place of the sunken Greenpeace vessel 'The Rainbow Warrior', which today has become a living reef, attracting marine life and recreational divers.

Matauri Bay is situated 30km north of Kerikeri, Northland. It has over a kilometre of beautiful white sand and crystal clear water and is particularly popular in the summer when thousands flock there to camp. Like in the nearby Bay of Islands, the water is very clear and the fishing can be very good. Some of the first Polynesian navigators to New Zealand landed at Matauri Bay and it was a site of early Maori contact with Europeans.
